Happy New Year…with my new planner

Happy New Year, Everyone!  I know I’m a few days late but better late than never. Right?!?!

First of all, I’d like to thank all of the lovely people who took the time to leave comments on my last post. It meant a lot to me. It also meant a lot to my sister, who was able to read your wonderful comments.

Now…for the new year. Over the next few posts I will clue you in on the classes I am taking this year. First of all, I am participating in The Documented Life Project. The basic premise is to turn a planner into a combo planner/journal/art journal. This will help those of us who carry all of those with us at all times and need a small suitcase to cart them all around in! It starts with a planner. A lot of us are using a Moleskine Weekly Planner + Notes. We’re adding fold-outs, attaching them with washi tape. These can be made with watercolor paper, scrapbook paper, tags, envelope…anything you want to include. We will be using the fold-out to do whatever weekly challenge the team presents to us. This week was about Doors and Home. What that means to us and what they represent.

Here are a bunch of photos om my altered planner, as well as my first challenge page. (Click on images to enlarge)

January - Week 1 Challenge

I hope you enjoyed this look into my latest program. I really had a blast altering this planner. Hours flew by as I picked the perfect paper, or other item like tags or envelopes, to use as a fold-out. More hours to pick out the perfect patterned washi tape and adhere the fold-out with it!

I encourage you to check out The Documented Life Program to see if it’s something you would like to participate in. It looks like a lot of fun. I know I’m going to enjoy this!

Wow! You’re fast. I just posted it a few minutes ago! Thanks, Michelle. I’m glad you like it. It was a ton of fun to do. I’m glad you are doing this, too. It’s fun to have friends to share ideas with.

Raine, your planner is so gorgeous already! I love, love, love your cover…and those washi taped edges make me so happy! ❤

Is that your house or one out of a magazine? Because if that is your house, I will be calling U-Haul first thing in the morning! I come with art supplies, the ability to cook relatively palatable food, and willingness to wash dishes…just saying! 🙂

Thanks, Sweets! It makes me really happy, too. Plenty of pink and cobalt teal for accents. I could eat it with a spoon!!!Yup, that’s my house! It’s the family homestead, build by my family in 1847. It’s a little wonky and it’s gone through a few different incarnations but I love it. Show up any time, Sweets. The futon is always at the ready! ; ) And there’s a sink full of dishes waiting to be washed! Just sayin’…

Thank you, Ashley! Yup…my little homestead. When we moved in it was battleship gray. So right away I had it painted yellow. Come on up! The futon is always ready! ; )

Thanks, Corrine! I LOVE the word “swell”! I think it is underutilized! I really had fun altering this planner. It makes me want to use it, which is a good thing in a planner!!!

Thanks, Zoe! I’m in love with the whole darn thing! I switched out the tape along the spine today. The washi isn’t strong enough, even with lots of glue. So I added some 1/2 inch duct tape that is black with white circles in different sizes. Works great with the cover design.
