About

face from Dyan Reavely class      Hi! My name is Raine.

I’m a late bloomer. I didn’t think that I had enough artistic talent to fill a thimble. At 40 years old, a friend opened one of those “paint your own pottery” places. She convinced me that even if I just painted over the piece with a sponge, it would look great once it was fired. With each piece, my confidence grew. Next I came upon a decorative painting store. You can LEARN to be an artist? WOW!! The rest, as they say, is history.

More mediums followed…drawing, watercolor, acrylics, polymer clay, art quilts and art dolls, and now, my favorites, altered art, mixed media and handmade art journals. I love damselflies (yes, DAMSELflies), bees (yeah, I know, but I DO), and angels. I have a large collection of crystals and gemstones, and books… LOTS of books!

I have 2 small studios, one for my sewing and polymer clay and my favorite, my teeny, tiny studio in the back where I do my altered and mixed media art, Gelli plate printing and my favorite art form, art journaling. Sometimes I just go in there to sit and soak up the wonderful, artistic energy. I’ve always marched to the beat of a different drum. I like it that way. It’s much more interesting. Come with me. Really…..come…..

Congrats on your blog! I saw the following quote today on Pinterest and I immediately thought of you! It said “Some girls are just born with glitter in their veins”.

    Dear Raine,
I am so proud of you and your artistry, I have ‘oohed and awed’ and seen first hand many of your gifted creations. I am also blessed to have three of your wonderful art pieces in my home. Two of which hang in my healing space, a place I consider sacred. I am also blessed to have you in my life, and to share this great adventure ‘of being’ who we really are.
    Love and Hugs, Janet
